Wow! That was different!
Things got started off here relatively okay, except for the splitting headache I
had (I almost NEVER have headaches). Eyes were hurting/burning. After the
first couple of hours, my vision started getting a little blurry and I was
missing entering some call signs correctly into the N1MM Entry Field. I just
figured my glasses were fogging up or were dirty. Hmmm. Maybe not.
Then, around 2015z, I felt my heart start skipping (I've had atrial fibrillation
for a few years and, when the ticker gets out of rhythm, it usually lasts just a
few minutes...besides, I have an ILR (Interval Loop Recorder) inserted into my
chest as a heart pace monitor, so I just let that thing keep up with the few
episodes that occur during the year. And, I just go on about my business,
usually. Well, this afternoon, things got kinda jumbled.
I was running on 20m and had a decent rate going. Then, I began feeling
'foggy-headed'--so, I thought I would work a couple more, then take a break.
Before I could get up out of the chair, I 'came to' with my head plopped onto
the desk in front of me (so glad my noggin didn't hit the keyboard and start
sending junk...Ha). I had fainted. So...
I held onto stuff and went from the garage where my radio is and got into the
house to lie down on the couch for a few minutes. Ha! Well, a bit more than
FOUR HOURS later, I awoke. But, even now, I can't remember how I got from the
garage door into the house. Crazy, huh?
I rested a few hours, then came back to catch some Qs on 40m, then 80m until
time ran out.
At the 'health-break', I had made only 136 Qs. So, I finished with 344 Qs...and
got in only 4 hours and 44 minutes of operating.
Here's what message I want to send: Thanks so much to all the gents and ladies
who gave me a Q today!! Also, thanks to all my teammates from Deep Dixie
Contest Club, especially Team Magnolia. I hoping our Team Elvis had some huge
scores this time around, too.
Now, it's onward to the CW Open! Best wishes to all my radio friends!
