Comments:
Jan VHF is always the worst for VHF conditions up here in the North. Just too
cold (-30C). I could hear several southern VE3's working many stations, but
propagation never quite got that good up here. Most signals were in and out
within 5-10 seconds, not enough even for FT8 decode. 2M was a bit better than
expected, mostly due to people being on FT8. I did hear a WA2 station on 2M SSB,
but by the time he worked someone else, he faded away.
There was that brief opening to VP9 and KP4 Sunday afternoon on 6M. But then,
they are pointing their antennas "north", not like some stations close
by :(
In desperation and pure boredom Sunday, I listened on 2M EME JT65 for the first
time ever during moonrise on Sunday, and heard an ES3 and a I2 calling CQ. Just
could not complete a contact, even though they both did hear me as well
(according to Pingjockey chat). If I had elevation and a pre-amp, story would
have been different... Oh well, maybe next time I'll get a DX into the log.
6M - K3/KPA500@450W/4elem beam
2M - IC-9100/Henry 2002@500W/13B2
