Comments:
Mid-day Saturday there was a terrific opening to the West where the West Coast
stations were running 20dB over Nine and my furthest contact was with a ZL
station! I also heard a VK station with a good signal answering CQ's so I tried
CQing a bit on a nearby clear frequency but no joy here. Also the band was
open to South America and I logged several stations from CX, HK, LU, PY, and YV,
many with already high serial numbers! Unfortunately the band folded a couple
of hours later.
Sunday there was still propagation to South America absolutely nothing west of
the Mississippi. I did hear one station from Alabama off and on for several
hours that would have been a new multiplier but I never could get through to
him. And I was running a KW to a 7-element beam. I did work a few more of the
South American stations with several reporting serial numbers in excess of 700.
I worked several PVRC stations, many just barely above the noise floor, but
there were several others that were spotted but I just could not hear.
The only success I had at running was during the opening early Saturday
afternoon. Most of my contacts were by searching and pouncing.
Thanks for all the Q's, I had fun!
73, Sam W4PK
