Comments:
Two radios, two computers running WSJT-X. No network, no separate logging
program.
One radio was set to even segments, one to odd segments, so they never
transmitted at once. I was intrigued by that possibility, and it worked. Every
now and then I would flip odd to even and vice versa.
My primary reason for entering this contest was to see where FT8 would fit in
with the RTTY Roundup. My conclusion is that the fastest hour of SO2R FT8 is
slower than the slowest hour of SO2R RTTY, so I plan to be RTTY-only in the RTTY
Roundup. Besides, the setup is totally different for this mode, so it would be
a stretch to get it fully integrated, at least for me.
I could smell my Astron 35 getting hot from the duty cycle of two 100 watt
radios in SO2R, so I had to drag out another supply to run one of them.
Thanks for all the work the WSJT team has done developing this mode of
communication, and for the nifty software interface. I'm sure it will get even
better with time.
