Comments:

Great fun was had. The low bands are beginning to be supreme. Ten is gone
and forty has surpassed fifteen meters.

Without Hi-Z receive antennas this low band performance would not be possible as
our TX antennas are modest. In a contest, the directivity is even more
important that the low noise performance of these antennas. One can cut QRM
which is a bigger problem than noise in a contest. The Hi-Z 160M 8 circle is
at times the equivalent of a five element Yagi for RX when it comes to
directivity. The Hi-Z interlaced 4 squares optimized for 40M do a great job on
the other two bands. On 80 M the TX antenna is only an inverted v with its
apex at 73 feet abt 22M. On forty the TX antenna is a SteppIR trombone or
rotatable dipole at 80' or 24M. Okay the location is a reasonably good rural
one but not world class. If you want to enjoy the low bands you need good
receive antennas.

The conditions on the higher bands were dire. Ten was gone for us. Fifteen
well down and Twenty closed at about 18:30 local time which happens to be UTC.

Before the inevitable corrections the score this year at 4,229,280 is higher
than last year which was 4,089,722. The multipliers are also down from 598 to
594. We must have made more 3 pointer Qs this year.

I believe I can say that all of us enjoyed teh contest. This was a fun effort
though of course we wanted to do well.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the contest.

Equipment
Antennas:
4 element SteppIR Yagi at 24 M or 80 feet

inverted v for 80M at 22M or about 73 feet.

inverted L for 160 M with 33M or 100foot vertical run and very substantial
ground radial system exceeding 125 radials of about 33M each or 100feet.

RX Antennas;
Hi-Z 160M 200' diameter 8 circle

Hi-Z 80M and 40M (also works on TB) 8 circle optimized for 40M operation. This
antenna is actually two interlaced 4 squares. The 160M antenna is a true 8
circle.

Radio:
K3 with new synth board P3 with large VDU
Acom 2000A running 1500 W allowed in EI for contests only

Micro Keyer II
