Hi

After a disappointing cq ww rtty, now the cq ww cw. I won this contest last year
on 80m qrp so I had to try to defend my title. After the CQ WPX CW I hadn't
practised a lot, so my speed of cw wasn't that high. Anyway three months before
the cq ww cw I practised a few times a week, so my speed was around 25WPM.
Better then last year, but no contestspeed!

So the plan wsa again 80m qrp, the start was good with the first three hours
around 40-50QSO's/hour. Then it slowed down but only to 30QSO's/hour. It was
fun, the rates are higher then during a cq ww rtty with the same setup. Some big
guns like P33W, EF8R, TK0C, …, came all back to my CQ. In cw even with 5w it
is fun to call CQ!
The first USA I worked was KC1XX, so strong on 80m, it was around 6utc. After
that I worked K3LR, W1KM, N2IC as other USA stations. Nicest QSO was with ZF9CW
around 8utc.
Worked some other big guns like ES9C, CN3A, my friends from sweden SK3W...

But then I already knew that I wouldn't win the contest. My score was on
livecontest together with EE3X and 4O4A. I sent them a mail to ask if they were
assisted or not. 4O4A was not, EE3X was. Their score was higher then me, more
multipliers, they must have better antennas and like 4o4 a better prefix... So
Saturdaymorning I knew that I wouldn't go all the way. Anyway I was qrv until
8u30utc.

Saturdayevening, I started around 17utc and the rates were around 20QSO's/hour.
The pressure was also gone. At midnight, I quit, it was enough…

I slept really long and around noon on sunday I wanted to make some qso's on the
other bands. I practised cw for months, didn't want to waste it. 15m was quiet,
20m was crowded, like always. Worked some usa, 6v7a, VE, … it was fun. But the
most fun was on 40m, power at 50w together with a vertical and calling CQ, rates
were around 50qso's/hour. Around 15u30utc K7RL came back to my CQ, I was so
surprised, working eastcoast of USA at that time, didn't knew it was possible.
The contestqso in my opinion! During the evening work some more westcoast USA
who all came back to my cq, oh I had fun!

Summary:
1. I lost my title, but no dissapointment, EE3X, 4O4A and OL4W are better
operators and I persume they have better antennas. End of the discussion.
Congrats to all of you. And sorry also. I was playing on the other bands and I
was livecontest forgotten, so they saw my score rising and rising, it must been
shocking!
2.My cw is better then last year, I haven't had to use CWget that often. Anyway
a lot of guys had to transmit their call two times before I decoded it. So that
have to improve.
3.80m QRP comes to an end (for now) for ON3DI. Can't win the contest anymore so
I have to look for something else. Talked to my dad and we were thinking for
another antenna for 80m but I think I will go for 40m qrp next contests…
4.It was lovely to work some friends like OQ5M, ON4CT, SK3W, IZ3NVR.

Thanks for all the qso's!
