Comments:
Due to serious medical issues for the past 6 months I did not know if I would
have the stamina to put in 24 hours. But I was able to make it with energy to
spare. For me that was the #1 news that came out of the weekend.
As for #2.....
I take pride in always having a clean log with a minimal error rate. However due
to a severe weather front that was approaching Radio Hempstead Saturday night,
the noise on 40 and 80 was terrible and made copy difficult. So I know my error
rate will be higher than usual.
While operating 40 meters Saturday night someone apparently spotted me as N5RM
in error. I had a flurry of dupes from that including some by well known
contesters. That for sure cost me a few legitimate Qs.
A highlight was having VY0ERC call in during the first hour sending about 10wpm
but the flutter on his signal stood out and made me take notice. It took away
from my rate but felt worth it at the time.
Another highlight was having NP3X call in on 20 meters Sunday afternoon for the
VI section...couldn't believe what he sent and I asked for a repeat. Sure enough
he sent VI again. Hallelujah !
Thanks to George and Kenny for being there for me during these difficult times
and also for the help getting the station back in order after the long summer
layoff. It means a lot to me to be able to participate once again in this
contest of all contests.
