Comments:

Let's start by thanking Paul, K1XM and Charlotte, KQ1F for coming up to help out
on this contest. Their contribution to the effort... which started in the days
before the contest... were enormous and very welcome. NPCG had a lot of things
going on to get ready for the contest, and they jumped right in to help... even
though we had intended to have most of them done in advance... the result was a
KL7RA that was in the best shape and newest configuration in a long time. Check
out the pictures and videos on social media if you get a chance.

Second, let's not forget "Longpath" and the the contribution he/she
made. More things to check out on social media...

As for the contest itself... amazing... unusual... quirky... and a lot of fun!
Given where we are in the solar cycle, I don't think we could have hoped for
better conditions. We had the added benefit of three new operating positions and
people to sit in the chairs... so we were able to make the most of the openings
we had. There are contests where one thinks about all of the places where you're
dumping Qs... but we really made the most of every opening, with ops ready to
pounce on the smallest opening on all of the bands.

20 and 40 were open essentially 24 hours... and we had an endless run of Europe
on both bands. Lots of Japan and lots of Oceania... Asia... states and South
America... everywhere was represented, right when we expected them... and some
at some surprising times... such as middle-of-the-day EU and states openings on
40.

Our new antennas for 2018, our completely remodeled 20 stack and the new 20
stack, as well as the new Beverages... they all exceeded expectations. Operators
were very happy with how they worked, and got them finding creative ways to
squeeze out some extra Qs.

We did have some equipment problems, but nobody was maimed, so that is good...
and hopefully we'll be debugged and ready to go in a day or two.

We worked really hard this past summer to get things fixed and improve the
station... and I think we've been rewarded... and of course, it is all the
better when the sun cooperates.

Thanks to everyone that contacted us... thanks to everyone that QSY'd when we
asked them to... congratulations to all of the six-bander stations, including
KH6J, who was the first to work us on six bands.

Lastly, we'd like to thanks Don, the ermine, who has taken up residence outside
the station... but who has been coming into the station through the cable tray.
Don is female, comes from a long line of mustid residents of the KL7RA
homestead. She is cute, and we have the photos and videos to back that up... But
we've decided that she's going to spend the winter outside, where her white coat
is best suited to hiding from other predators. She kinda stands out when running
across the blue rug. Look on social media for her, too.
