Comments:
I have operated QSO parties as a mobile for over ten years and I learn
something
every outing. This time I learned it is important not to head out without your
laptop. I stayed at my sister-in-law's house in Davenport IA Saturday night and
got up for an easy 90 minute drive to my start in NW Illinois. I stopped for
breakfast and when I got ready to go again I realized I didn't have the laptop.
I hightailed it back to Davenport and grabbed the computer but there was no way
I could run my full route now. It was already after 1700Z when I got to
Illinois.
I decided to drop the first two counties (JODA & STEP) and start 30 minutes
late,
this let me make the rest of the route pretty much on schedule.
My numbers were down from last year much more than the lost half hour accounts
for.
I had three pretty slow hours at 18, 19, and 21Z.
Many thanks to those who rode along with me all day.
