80m sloper
Station 1: IC 7610, Alpha 87a
Station 2: IC 7610, KPA1500
I decided to do something a little different this year, and operated from home
instead of making the trek to W6YI. We have been making a lot of improvements
to the station over the past few months, so I was anxious to try them out. We
don't have a 160 antenna and ran out of time to put one up. I was able to tune
the 80m sloper to work a few of the locals.
The other issue here is that it can be pretty noisy here in the city. The noise
was especially bad on 80m, but on the higher bands the IC7610 was able to handle
the noise like a champ.
I was also able to try out the new Inrad W1 headset that just came out. After
using it for 24 hours, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with how
comfortable they were. I think it sounded good on the air too. They are
definitely a keeper.
Thanks to everyone for the q's.
73,
Dan N6MJ
