Comments:
The organizing team is to be congratulated for raising activity levels to
acceptible levels. This contest is a lot of fun. . only problem is that it's
too tempting to chat a bit with some of the interesting stations that are
worked. Lucked out by finding an Alaskan station calling CQ on 20m . a K4/KL7,
and I was his first QSO from Alaska. . so he was happy to accommodate me with a
Sprint exchange. Big surprise in the last few mins was working fellow NCCC'r
Barry, K6ST, who was on from NV, my 45th mult. Heard but did not work VE4. Got
Me initially with a Q in the Me QSO party, but then worked a regular sprint
particpant from Me on 80m.
Clearly being in the southern part of the US was a huge advantage on 20m.
In case you're is wondering about the "EA" designation on the 4 NcCC
teams . that's short for "Ear Assault" suggested by KH6DV, an NCCC
member who kindly showed up on 40 meters to hand out the HI mult.
I kidded N6RO about bringing his banjo to the contest in case it got to dull .
and lo and behold, Ken Sang his Exchange while strumming the banjo. This must
be a first in the SSB Sprint.
