Comments:
Had to work both days on the weekend again, so only sporadic periods of
operating were possible, and I even left the Telnet spotting window on (I
usually never operate assisted). Conditions Friday night were excellent on 40
and 80, but it seemed that as the weekend wore on, conditions became worse. By
DupeDay (some people call it Sunday) morning, WWV was reporting G1 minor storm
conditions, and things had definitely taken a downturn, with rates slowing to a
crawl or drying up altogether. For the most part, the Europeans on 20M seemed to
be in a self-feeding frenzy working each other, and were having a lot of trouble
hearing us lonely Ws. I was also able to verify that it doesn't matter how
little you operate or how few Qs you may have, if it's DupeDay, the dupes will
still come in! Still, thankful for the fun on the first evening; notably, 80M
was excellent, and at times sounded almost like it was 20M, using just a
shortened dipole.
