Comments:
Statistically the Sun is dying to its Solar minimum
X-ray level with A1 background. Sunspot group 12699
is back from the previous rotation as a new numbered
bright looking source, but NOAA's forecast for the 78
level fluxes has been withdrawn some days ago. This all
was evident from the MUF's in the ARRL DX SSB contest
(though 10.7 cm flux is an indicator and not an ionizer).
Despite all of the above, I got my last week total of 10
contacts already in 20 minutes. Signals were strong, and
heard a number of Swedes even on backscatter. Working
again from the car, a funny problem was the base of the
paddle at -10 Celcius, so I had to use a piece of cloth
to isolate my stabilizing hand from the freeze.
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA/m portable, signing OH3BCX
