With pileups to make and pileups to break, and lots of stations to work these
CWTs are a great way to test out stuff. And this morning it was the mobile
stuff in preparation for a run in the upcoming Texas QSO Party. Seemed like it
played well with some good runs on 40m and several pileups where I was able to
get in on first or second call.
It was an excellent session with good participation and the bands in good
condition. However, I've got to find a new location as it seems the mobile
attracts visitors like -- well you know the saying. Last week it was the flag
football moms and this morning a paving company pulled in with an 18-wheeler
trucking a large road machine, accompanied by several dump trucks. Seems they
had a contract to pave the lot I was in but their guy that was supposed to put
out "This lot is closed for paving" sign had been a no show at 1230z
when I pulled in and setup. Fortunately they did not seem in too much of a
hurry to get started so my "I'm involved in a test of an emergency
communication network and will be done in about 20 minutes" held them off
when they knocked on the window and asked if I could move.
Thanks for the Qs and hope to work you from a peaceful setting at 1900z.
