FT1000MP, 100W, TH6DXX, dipole, zepp, inverted vee. At 0210Z I was all set up
for the ladder event and my laptop used for logging started upgrading Windows.
I thought surely it would finish in 20 minutes, but it didn't. In fact it was
still slaving away at 0310Z when I shut the station down and went to bed. This
morning, it had finished, I guess, but did another quick upgrade when I turned
it on. So, I was relegated to pen and paper logging and sending, like K7SS
does. 15M was completely dead. 20M was open only to W6/7, but did manage a
QSO with N4AF. No other eastern stations heard and none from TX either. 40M
was pretty good all over outside the 4th district. Again N4AF only 4 station
worked. 80M was OK with readable signals from the west coast, but none of them
heard me. Got confused trying to return the zepp from 40 to 80M and used the
inverted vee, which is not as good as the zepp to the north east. Thanks for
all QSOs. Hope you work you all in the Solar Eclipse QSO Party on Monday. 73,
John, K4BAI.
