Comments:

This was our 11th Field Day at Stub Stewart State Park in the foothills of
Oregon's Coast Range mountains about 30 miles west of Portland. Weather is
always a roll of the dice here and this year it rolled hot with high
temperatures ranging from the low to high 90s over the three days of activity.
Thankfully, the humidity of the previous week had passed.

Murphy threw one at us. We had a new TH-3JRS for CW and digital that had been
assembled and checked out beforehand, showing textbook SWR curves. Once
assembled at the site and up the tower, not so good. Down it came, and an
ohmmeter showed an open-circuited trap. Inspection showed that some stripped
threads were causing intermittent contact with the coil inside. Once fixed it
worked great.

Results were better and worse than we expected. Our CW effort paid much better
than last year's 586 Q's but SSB fell behind from 775. We're not sure why as we
are using largely the same group of operators. But on the whole we handily beat
last year's 4210 points.

Thanks to everyone for the QSOs and to all the operators and setup/teardown
helpers as well as the park staff for their continuing support!

73 and 88 from Oregon Tualatin Valley ARC, W7OTV

2 x Elecraft K3 for CW & digital
Icom 756 Pro III and 7410 for SSB
2 x TH3 Jr and tribanders with VA6AM triplexers
Wires for low bands
