Comments:

Station: Elecraft K3/100 @ 5 Watts output. F12 C-3 $64'. 80/40M Fan Dipole N/S
at 50' in center. WriteLog V12.13B scored correctly this time.

I heard a rumor that Cycle 25 is starting ... boy that would have really been a
help. For all extensive purposes this was a "one-band" contest for
East Texas running QRP! Six CW contacts on 40M with a few hours spent trying
to work folks who probably had a noise floor above my signal strength.

I made 50% fewer contacts compared to last year, at Low Power, and some of that
was the limitations of QRP - so I don't feel really bad about the reduction of
contacts and counties that could not hear me.

Sunday there was considerable jamming and interloper behavior on 20M SSB. This
has been building for all operations for the past three years, and it is time we
stop this, if we have to do it ourselves. Also, there were several stations
that were so broad that they wiped out significant portions of the band, most
of these were from South America - not speaking English. There is no reason
for them to be 20 kHz wide and so strong, except for their governments not
enforcing their own laws. Some of the behavior was US origination, and that we
do have to power to effect corrective action to protect our hobby.

There were a few of the VA stations who had stability problems, FM-component
and overdriven rigs - I think these were do to inadequate Elmer training of the
newer guys and gals. The lack of effective Elmer activity is so obvious.

There were several young operators being coached - that's a good thing.
Perhaps there should be a Rookie category to allow a coach and not be put into
the multi-op category. Good training makes for enjoyment for all.

Hope to see you all next year, with the sun behaving!
