Comments:
Well I started the contest with the ambition to work 38-40 hours of the contest
but that did not happen. I had a family commitment Friday night and did
started the contest 5 1/2 hours late and already tired. Stayed up too late
Friday night/Saturday morning and slept 2 hours to long missing most of the AM
European window. Really only S&P most of Saturday. Woke up Sunday am
before the Euopean window and was able to take advantage. Sunday consisted of
70% Running and 30% S&P time. I had a commitment Sunday at 5:00pm so I had
to QRT 2 hours before the contest end. So only 26 hours of radio time on this.
Frustraiting note, around 9:00 am Sunday for about 20 minutes I was harrased by
a US operator keying up on my frequency and basically telling me how much he
hated contesters. During that 20 minutes he repeatedly said FU solid for 5
minutes. With a pileup that I was running I am sure the DX operators on the
other end really challenged what type of operators we have in the States. I
appologized for this Call-less US operator but I am sure a number of the pileup
left. A real shame. Then about an hour later, apparently I was a KC below a
private net that started b/c a few got on and destroyed by frequency. Not much
I could do except move to another band as I was on 20M and had already carved
out a nice nitch in an already overcrowded band.
I was able to try out my new gear on this contest for the first time. It
worked fantastic but I think as compared to the last few years, it was much
more difficult to maintain a run except on 20M. 80M was very down for me as
was 15M which I always do the best. Supprising how 10 meters had it's moments.
Not a bunch of multipliers but South America was pretty strong while it was
open for a good 4 hours.
As always will look forward to chasing it again next year.
