Comments:
after telling myself that I wasn't going to do this contest heavy I got sucked
in to 9 hours operating Saturday night. But made myself quit at 0700 european
sunrise so I would not be a member of walking dead Sunday day.
I was pleased to hear good signals from all the bigger euro signals Saturday
night. I had qso's with all the ones I missed in three hours operating Friday
night. Only ones I never could pulled out of noise consistently was any
LA...Z60A, OH2BH/ZA, OH0Z. no middle east, A44A and 7Z1SJ come to mind but
worked all the common euro mults except GI,GW. Africa, I heard s01ws and ea8zs
but the dog fight was unbelievable so walked away. Didn't get up in AM to try
for JA/VK/ZL. Missed NE and DC for usa mults and usual VE misses.
Had fun with no 15 hour per night painful operating. I would like to go Multi
but every year k0di/n2cei in Florida turns in 600+k plus and best we can do is
500k. K0DI always gets beat by w2gd's 900+k. K0DI did beat out NR4M which is no
small feat in multi category. But operating 30-35 hours of this contest would
put a single op in the hospital and drive my HF multi crew nuts. The gold
standard for this contest is 1 million points and not achieved easily. LOTS of
10 point Europeans. The Briggs brothers single ops k3zm and vy2zm nearly always
top the list with vy2zm at 1.9 million and k3zm at 880K compared to our best
Florida score with k9om at 340k.
