Comments:
Kathleen, KA1JJR, enjoyed NAQP last year so we decided to do it again. We added
a project before the weekend to replace a pair of 25 year old masts of unknown
origin and condition. John, W2GD, helped us with the tower work and stayed on
for the contest.
After a great lowband night the Friday before the contest, and then a 10 meter
band full of beacons a few hours before the contest, we were optimistic about
improving conditions. Unfortunately 10 closed quickly and the lowbands were
incredibly noisy. In the end, conditions seemed a bit worse than last year.
Kathleen did almost all the operating on 15 and 40. She had just a single band
change and made about half the QSO's. John operated the other radio and I filled
in for relief.
A solid start allowed us to beat last year's score by about 10%. We were up
over 200 Q's, but northern mults were a challenge on all bands. Overall, it
was a fun time and it was great to have John join us.
Thanks for the Q's and the moves
73, Tom W2SC
