As I have mentioned before, I just moved into new QTH 2 months ago. Little by
little, I have been fine tuning and getting the shack to feel less like an
eternal field day operation.
The antenna is still just a 135 ft end fed longwire, tossed up in my trees, but
it was sunny and 58, here in MI, so spent time during the afternoon working on
my antenna. I had problems where only 5 watts of RF would make my cable box
reboot on 160. After laying out several counterpoise wires, and inserting a
choke balun at the feed point, it looks like I solved the problem, transmitted
at full 100 watts and no RF problem or cable box reboots. CQWW 160 next weekend
will be the test!
This contest reminded me why I don't care much for SSB contests and the QRN
levels on 80/160 further emphasized that!
