Well that was fun! Nice to have some conditions to the West Coast...better on
Saturday than Friday. Working EU was another story....seemed better early
Friday night, but EU sunrise was a bust...Just TM6M in the log. Saturday was
better but then hard to work EU when all the weak sigs had NA QRO CQ machines
right next to them....from 1.81 to 1.87! So frustrating with 100W. Just CS2S
in the log Saturday. Lots of Caribbean and SA DX to make it interesting, but
ran out of gas on Saturday after staying up to 3:30 the first night. All
S&P...way too busy for these ears. Great to see all the activity though.
My temporary RX antennas worked a treat, even the new Active Antenna (PA0RDT
design built on VE3FEX board). The size of an antenna Balun and up at 40ft it
was quieter than the two 200ft BOGs and heard the West Coast better! Amazing
to hear just whispers of CW and then get answered with one call at 100W from
KH6, KL7 and West Coast. Not so into EU this year.
Thanks to WL7E for staying with me a long time to get my call correct. Worked
all but MT and NE for WAS...guess I needed to run for those.
Thanks for all the Q's...till the SPDXC and CQ160CW 73 de Jeff VE3CV
