Comments:
Part time as we had an event scheduled Saturday evening. Enjoyed the quiet
conditions Friday night but balanced that against the QRN and QSB of Saturday
evening/Sunday morning.
There were 78 five pointers and some will undoubtedly be tossed for errors.
Thanks to many of the DX operators for being patient with the conditions.
I used the FlexRadio 6700 and Maestro in SO2R. The amplifier is a SPE 2K. I
have a SAL30 about 1200 feet from the TX antenna and it allows me to hear very
well on the second radio within a few kHz of the TX signal. RX antennas include
SAL30, Beverages, HiZ 8 circle, and a new Top Beam Waller Flag at 150 feet. Each
had its moment and it is very nice to have choices. The WF works very well and
adds Q5 copy that I never had before.
Thanks for all the fun. This is a hoot to operate as there are many excellent
cw operators. The first night had many nice runs at rate. The first six hours
were all above 100 per hour...starting with a 141 first hour. Sweet!
I don't remember too many times ever getting a sweep in ARRL 160. That was a
true highlight. Thanks to VY1AAA and VO1HP for getting on.
73, Craig K9CT
