Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM
and W3GB operated Multi-1 HP in CW SS: each put in ~9 hr. BIC.
N3UM ran, to work those who never (or hardly ever) CQ, and W3GB
tuned, to work those who never (or hardly ever) tune, including
rare sections. N3UM ran on 20m. 2100-2317Z at a moderate but
steady 50/hr. for 107 Qs and 42 sections. Then, a 31-min. BK
to move the new log computer away from the hot HPA exhaust and
rig a muffin fan. Ran on 40m. 2349-0132; only 30/hr, and VERY
long skip. In 52 Qs just 2 MDC, 2 EPA, 1 VA, no NJ, NY, or OH,
but UT, 2 SJV, SCV, ORG, AZ, and WWA! Obvious: go to 80m. for
nearby Qs and mults. That worked: ran briefly on 80 at 50/hr,
and right away got SNJ, NNJ, WNY, NLI, and DE. Then W3GB tuned
80 and got 66 Qs and 7 mults including "hard" ones SD, WY, and
ONS. Before QRT to sleep he found VI, PAC, AND PR on 40.
In the AM 40m. ran much better: N3UM got 59 Qs in 1 hr. 1327-1427Z.
Then a 20m. run, slower: 64 Qs in 1.7 hr, but 6 multa, SK, ID,
AK, NNY, NE, and AB. In the PM W3GB got ND, SFL, and MB tuning
on 20, then NT on 15m. After 3 hr. with both of us away, W3GB
got 29 Qs and WV tuning on 80. N3UM got back and ran on 80 for
the last 1.3 hr. and got 70 Qs but no mults. Missed SB and WTX.
