Comments:
Again great contest and partially huge pile ups. Feels like being in Jamaica or
elsewere on a rare island. Had lots of fun although conditions were not as good
as 2015. 80m was a challenge, a lot of noise and weak signals. Even the big guns
from the US could not reach really strong signals.
10m sounded like moonbouncing. Signals didn't use the shortest path, but came
in from any direction. So decided to turn the antenna to north or west from
where the backscatter was unusual strong and voila, stations from Europe
called. A few carribean stations could be worked, but a US opening (if there
was one I missed it) did not happen. 40, 20 and 15m worked quite good and
cannot complain.
Station:
SO2R setup with
FT1000MP MarkV
FT2000D
Homemade power MOSFET PA
Old Siemens PA from 1964
5 element Monobanders for 20/15/10 on seperate towers
Log Periodic 11 to 30 MHz @ 28m
2 el Quad 7 MHz @ 28m
Dipole 80m @ 40m height
Just completed hours before the contest switchable 4 phased vertical Dipoles
for 80m around 40m tower.
See you next year again.
