Comments:
With only marginal condx, I managed a couple of pretty good runs despite local
QRN. My rate slowed somewhat at one point when I had stopped to touch up the
antenna tuner as my DB-18E has never been able to give me an SWR on 40 mx that
I am comfortable with. I was having no luck running and so started S&P.
That was pretty hard going too. After an hour or so of this heavy slogging, I
discovered that I had been running with less than 10 "tuning" watts
instead of the intended 100 for about an hour.
As a relative newbie to contesting, I'm reluctant to run and thus I think I
spend too much time S/P. Once I start running, the rate goes up. Looks like I
could remember this from one contest to the next!
This is a fun contest despite having to keep one eye on the weather radar and
one ear peeled for thunder!
