Comments:
Thanks to Felipe, NP4Z, for allowing me to invade his house for the weekend. He
put a lot of time and effort into getting everything ready for me and it really
paid off. We received a lot of help from Ranko, 4O3A and Bob, N6TV in getting
all the gear working. We couldnt have done it without their help. Also,
thanks to iCOM for the use of 2 IC-7851's. The radios worked flawlessly.
We had a few hardware issues that cropped up but nothing that set me back too
far. Conditions were difficult most of the day with 10m having spotlight
propagation, mostly to W5 and W0. The rest of the country was missing until
later in the afternoon when it finally opened up everywhere and the rate shot
through the roof.
We are still scratching our heads as to why I wasn't able to run on 20m either
day from 00z-02z. My rate was around 50 an hour, when it should have been
closer to 200. Maybe the antenna was too high for this time of day? The band
came back to normal after about 0230z both days.
