Comments:
Conditions were quite good Friday through early Sunday. With the K index at 0,
It was a real treat to actually work Europe on 40m Friday and Saturday
evenings. Even a bigger treat to work a handful of big guns on 80m Saturday
evening.
Saturday there was no opening to Europe or Asia on 10m. Strictly South America
and Caribbean.
Things changed suddenly on Sunday. While in the middle of a good run to Europe
on 15m, the signals suddenly started sounding fluttery and became noticeably
weaker. The rate went from 2-3 a minute to once every 4-5 minutes. I popped up
to 10m andd while aimed at 135 degrees , started hearing and working Europe on
10m. This was a significantly skewed path. Added about 30 mults very quickly
before the opening faded.
With the K now at 5-6 over the last several hours, the polar paths were
virtually closed and all of north America was left fighting over the all the
Zone 6-13 stations.
Hope WPX at the end of the month has close to these conditions.
