Comments:
Some limited operating, mostly running. Continue to be impressed with the
ANAN-100D. Up until recently, I was skeptical about its cw contesting prowess,
due to latency and less-than-smooth QSK. But I now believe that these issues
are minor. There are many loud mouths on the various ham forums declaring
current DDC (direct sampling) receivers as second rate due to dynamic range
limitations. Sorry, I say that's bull crap based on my experience. The rf and
audio performance of the ANAN-100D keeps my K3 and Orion sitting on the shelf.
That includes ability to pull out a caller from a pileup, a problem the K3 and
Orion both suffer from in spades. The only downside is dependence on a
computer for xcvr control with lack of a knobbed front panel.
