Comments:
Didn't have high expectations for the contest as condx have been really terrible
over the summer up here and so it was a pleasant surprise to have such great
condx throught the contest with 20m opened to Europe almost the entire 48 hr.
Only glitch was a regional power failure at 10:30 on Saturday evening which
lasted for 4 hours. Was able to get some needed sleep but missed the midnight
polar opening. Overall it was hard to decide when to take a couple of hours off
for sleep as the band was so active. Wall to wall stations from 14.077 all the
way up to 14.152 and sometimes really hard to find a slot to call CQ. Missed a
few states: Vt, Mt, ND, SD and nothing heard from VO1 or the northern
territories. Of the zones that I heard on 20m only missed zone 22. Called
VU2LDW off and on both mornings but couldn't break the European pileup. Missed
a number of other country mults that I heard but couldn't work. As always Don
was a great host making his superstation available and keeping me fed and in
coffee.
Equipment: ICOM 756ProII, Alpha77 and 5x5x5x5 with the top yagi at 200ft and
another tower with 5x5x5 with the top yagi at 160ft.
