Comments:
Considering band conditions and my attitude towards SSB, I'm surprised I lasted
as long as I did! What kept me going was providing a "Maine"
multiplier. I did hear (and worked) W1WMU, and early on I heard another W1 in
Maine on 20. Later, on 40, somebody I worked said he'd already worked several
Maine stations...
Station-wise, when I decided to try 40M around 4:30 PM EDT, I discovered that
the balun on my Windom was toast. So I spent the next hour and a half
constructing a G5RV and it worked just fine!
I do need to come up with a 160M antenna for this small lot...several attempts
at working somebody who wanted me there didn't pan out...I heard them, but they
couldn't hear me!
As usual, it was lots of fun running into old friends and chit-chatting. 73
