Comments:
I moved down here one year ago so this completes one full contest cycle. My
67-foot end-fed wire is a little higher than it was last winter but it's still
pretty pathetic. And it's the best I will ever be able to do here. But it gets
me on the air with, so far, no neighbor or HOA hassles.
My best weekend for QSOs was CQWW CW (442), followed by the FLQP (411) and ARRL
DX CW (334).
As a result of the move the only computer I have is a 10-year-old Dell laptop.
Its factory power supply makes about 3 S-units of hash on the HF bands. No
amount of ferrites and aluminum foil would make a dent in the noise, so I
bought an MFJ 0-24 VDC variable power supply, made up a cable, set it to 19
volts, held my breath, and hooked it up. Voila, no hash.
