Comments:

Oregon Tualatin Valley ARC (OTVARC) operated W7OTV from our usual site at Stub
Stewart State Park, about 30 miles west of Portland in the coast range
foothills.

With a CME headed our way and two of our best CW operators missing, we were
thinking that this would be more of a training event than a competitive one.
Guess what, it was both. We broke in several new operators who did very well
and we also beat our last year's score by a few percent. We're still quite shy
of our scores from 2012 and 2013 but we'll just go ahead and blame the sun for
that. Signals did seem weaker than normal but for the most part we were able to
work them and we did.

Sunny skies and 95 F weather greeted us during setup on Friday. We drained a
lot of water bottles and enjoyed a moderate breeze so the heat wasn't too
brutal. Everything went smoothly.

Notable aspects of this year were strong contributions by newer operators and a
continuing increase (about 50% over last year) in digital QSOs.

CW & Digital stations: 2 x K3, Explorer 14 at 40 feet for 10 & 20,
Moxon at 24 feet for 15, wires for 40 and 80
SSB stations: Icom 756 Pro III and 7410; TH3 Jr at 32 feet with VA6AM
triplexer, wires for 40 and 80
6 m station: Icom 706, 5 el at 30 feet.

73 and thanks for all the Q's
WS7L on behalf of the club.
