Comments:
Well 100 watts, a vertical, and several hundred miles from either coast doesn't
create a lot of big signals for DX to hear me, HAH! So it was slightly
frustrating to call "into the wind" so many times with no answers. I
tried several times to adjust the audio levels for the Icom IC-7100 but seemed
like there was low audio even when I had the gain + comp adjusted per the
manual. On Day2 I unhooked the Icom and put the durable Yaesu FT-857D back in
service. Then I started making some Qs! So although the Icom seems fine on CW +
RTTY....it appears to leave a little to be desired on the SSB side...
High points were hearing XW1IC on 20m (need for all time new one DXCC). Also
hearing Western Sahara (need SSB). Low point was not logging either one!
When's the next CW contest? Oh this weekend! YEAH! Time to put Mr Microphone
away for a long time now....bye bye Mr Microphone. See what these phone
contests do to me!
Best of health to all,
Eric K9GY
