Comments:
On my condo patio I set up a 10 meter portable vertical. It consists of a plate
with S0-239 and radial tie points that will mount on a camera tripod 1/4-20
bolt.
The radiator is a length of wire soldered to a PL-259. I had no fiberglass pole
to support the vertical so I taped the wire to a plastic mop handle whose end
storage hole would conveniently hook over an existing nail on the upper balcony
facade. Not exactly in the clear. The 3 radial ends were taped to lengths of
wood and propped against the patio walls to keep them extended.
The bands sounded pretty bad with this setup. After finding nothing on 10 and
nothing readable on 15 I tuned 20 for signs of life. Slim pickings. (My K3
matched the wire.) W6AQ might have heard me but QSYed before I was ready to
transmit. Mitch, K7RL, was the only station to hear me, hence my prime score of
1.
Good ears, Mitch!
73,
David N6AN
