Comments:
As in most of the contests I enter, I don't know what to expect. N1MM shows me
operating 12:17 hours, however this was spread out during the contest. I did
not run, but that is normal for me. My brain is still going into moments of
hearing only phonetics for my thoughts. I was surprised by the number HQ
stations on the air and the great skills of their operators. I was also
surprised by the operators who were to close to the band edges - maybe the
contest software could advise operators when their mode is too close to the
band edge. On 80 meters, I could not pull the WRC stations out of the noise
and crashes. I worked a couple and they could hear me. Then, I remembered
that I had put up (down) a Beverage antenna point toward Europe last winter. I
set up my IC-756PRO to receive on it and switched between the dipole and
vertical as need to work a few more. There was such a difference in the noise
that I had tell about it. I did not work many (23) WRC stations. I suspect
that was because they were mostly on CW.
