Comments:
Remote to NN7SS in WA tonight, and NS CW was fun
for the 12 minutes the remote lasted. Last time I
was in WA, I setup a new PC with Windows 8.1 and
got it "working." Tonight it worked through RTTY,
then in CW at 02:42 it stopped. I couldn't solve
it remotely, so I cycled the power strip to reboot
it and waited...
It eventually reappeared, and by the time I had
the radio and log ready it was 02:59. I heard N6ZFO
and K6SRZ finish up.
Dear Dell and Microsoft, I am so pleased with my new
PC and modern OS of Windows 8.1. They can't even run
for one hour. There was probably a pop-up dialog box
that needed to be clicked "OK" or "Cancel." My old XP
system could do 48 hour contests without a hitch, but
it was "end-of-life."
Well, I'm not one to give-up easily. I'll bang on 8.1
some more, or maybe go back to XP. Should be a fun
summer...
