Another weekend with great propagation and great activity!
Lots of work leading up to this weekend - repairs on the 80m quads (KC1XX,
W1FV, K1GQ, maybe N1KWF?, Andrew from XX Towers) and a 40m rotor swap (KC1XX,
DL9DRA, Andrew). With this many antennas there is always work to do.
It was really great having Chris DL1MGB, Ralf DL9DRA and Irina DL8DYL with us
this weekend. They really enjoyed operating here again and we all had a lot of
fun.
Special thanks, as always, go to Matt's family for helping us over the
weekend.
Looks like lots of records will fall this weekend - we beat the old USA M/2
record held by K1LZ - and we appear to be in a dead heat with them - scores are
very close!
At about 15:30 EST on Sunday we lost power due to very high winds in the area.
Matt has a generator but the automatic transfer switch failed to make - so he
and I went down to switch it manually. We were only off the air for about 15
minutes. Power came back about 45 minutes after the contest. We're so lucky
that we had the generator.
Then at 2330Z on Sunday one of the Icom IC-7700's just went dead - cause still
unknown but likely some kind of power supply issue. We swapped some things
around and kept going.
Hope everyone had fun this weekend - another great CQWW Contest in the books -
and another excellent event to remember. The activity in CQWW just seems to
keep going up every year!
Thanks to all the DX stations who got on this weekend - it is because of all
the activity you generate that everyone gets to have so much fun.
