Comments:
Less than half the number of qso's of last year - activity seemed way down for
this Summer Stew. The few stations I heard from East had great signals at peaks
- so it wasn't so much conditions as just less stations participating this year.
Best DX - two KH6 stations from BK29 for 10 points each Here in northern Idaho
panhandle people are so spread out that I had no 1 point QSOs and only 3 2
point qso'. Only had 5 hours of true darkness. I got to try my new 160 dipole -
up 400 ft, and compare with my full size vertical. The dipole is hung from a
rope between the top of my 160 ft tower and a tie point at an 800 ft cliff - it
slopes up 30 degrees. The dipole slighly out perfromed the vertical in some
QSOs. This summer - most stations heard were clearer copy on dipole or
vertical, than Bev's, unusual. No Carib or SA this time. This has got to be one
of the most difficult contests - almost winter solstice for southern hemispehere
- if they were on??
