Comments:
I made two visits to EN20 in the contest - first was Saturday at the start of
the contest and again Sunday morning. QTH was just north of the EM29/EN20 grid
line in Missouri near the town of Oregon, MO about 2 miles south of I-29 75
mile marker. On the first go -- only two Qs on 6 - K0HA EM19 and WQ0P EM19. No
Es but heard K0YW and W0W on scatter. Conditions were dismal on 2 meters.
Better luck Sunday morning with a strong but narrow 6 meter Es opening to the
west. K7TM DN42 was loud 40 over S-9 with no QSB for over 2 hours. Most of the
Es contacts were in a narrow footprint to the west. Two outliers - K5QE EM31
and XE2JS DL68. Was pleased to give Julian, XE2JS the rare grid. My radio on 6
was the MFJ-9406 and a 2 el yagi on a 15 foot mast by the car. Last QSO was
with K0YW DM67 on a QSB peak at 1755 UTC, then it started raining and I shut
down. It was 65 degrees and felt more like a September contest. I had hoped to
hand the EN20 grid out to many more, but the Es prop wasn't there like last
year.
