Comments:
For the second year we operated three stations from the Stanford
University ham shack. Despite having to share antennas and sometimes
being stuck on a "dead band," we bumped up our combined score total
from 411K to 417k. Nice!
W6YX was a "big gun" with N6DE's Alpha 9500 providing a full KW on
RTTY. We had four great operators: W6NEV, W6RK, K6YL and K6UFO. We
had software and equipment that we were familiar with, and no gremlins
or glitches. We occasionally had some inter-station interference that
reduced our ability to hear weak stations.
We did not have a dedicated spotting operator this year, but relied
on the cluster spots filtered through VE7CC. We noticed several spots
being off-frequency by 1 or 2 kHz, I guess the spotter didn't have
their RTTY offset set correctly.
Conditions were good, but not great. We were glad to have 10m open
so that during the day we had three open bands for our three stations.
When 10m finally closed to the west we had to go up to 40m too early.
And in the evening only 40m and 80m were open, so the N6DB operation
closed early.
Contacts were 90 percent from USA, up from 80 percent last year. We
"Worked All States" including DC, and 55 DX countries, down from 60
last year. Glad to work lots of new RTTY operators.
Sunday morning provided a quick dozen new European countries for Mults.
Otherwise, it was running with hourly rates never quite reaching
100 Qs/hr.
Thanks for all the contacts, see you in WPX-RTTY on Feb 8 and
NAQP-RTTY on Feb 23.
...for the W6YX team, K6UFO Mork!
