Comments:
It was a busy weekend with beautiful weather and I had limited time to operate
this event. In the spring I built two 5el 15m OWA beams and never completed
hooking them up. This contest was the perfect time to test them out so I
soldered the phase box control cable and played around on 15m. I was happy to
discover that they were working well and had minimal interaction with other
antennas on the tower, just as EZNEC predicted. I plan to cut up more aluminum
tubing next spring and adding a third beam to the stack. Conditions sounded
very good, I have never heard 15m more crowded. I made no real effort to find
multipliers and I was surprised to have worked 68 countries in such a short
time in the air. After listening to all of the activity, I really missed not
operating from Aruba this weekend. I wish to thank K3EST, who recently retired,
for his 35 years of service as the CQ WW director.
73,
John KK9A / P40A
