Last year I had a chance to go back to my home town of Goshen,
IN to work this contest and had a grand old time from the club
station there. I was hoping to try it again this year from my
own QTH, but basically had to sit it out. My older daughter and
her husband purchased a new house
(new to them, it was built in 1768) in Weymouth, MA on the 9th
and I spent the weekend there helping them clean up, clean out
and doing a lot of yard work in all the brutal heat and humidity.
The 15th was also my birthday, the big 7-Oh. As much as I wanted
to do the contest, I wanted to help them too. I think I signed
up for that on a June night in 1980 when there wasn't anything
interesting on TV and my wife and I decided to provide our own
entertainment. It worked out well and we've all lived happily
ever since.
The little bit of operating I did was assisted and I wasn't
careful about the band change rule. I found one
violation, so this is a CHECKLOG. I don't recall actually ever
using the cluster data but I may have spotted a few stations.
I don't feel discriminated against by the rules. I'm fine.
QSO counts seemed high here on the 3830 reports but I didn't hear
much DX. Lots of stateside activity, however. I think it was an
EU contest and a NA contest. Two for one.
The next biggie for me is the CQ WW RTTY in September. My favorite
contest.

Kermit, AB1J
