I was just fooling around with some new antennas I put up Saturday morning so I
had no intention of being serious but I did want to get on and have some fun
while testing out the new antennas. I ended up being on alot longer than I had
planned just because the rate meter never dropped below 50/hr and I hit 150/hr
on 20/40/80/ and even 160M more than a few times so I just couldn't QRT.
I decided to impose three simple rules on myself that would insure that I was
only operating on the bands that the new antennas were designed and "tweaked"
for ( thank you EZNEC ).
Rule #1 Absolutely no S&P allowed at all - regardless of the band. ( Just to
see how much attention I could draw )
Rule #2 Absolutely no 10M or 15M QSO's.
Rule #3 Operate on 20/40/80 and 160M only.
So with those handicaps in mind I started calling CQ and am very happy with the
antennas and how well they performed. I found 80 and 160 to be somewhat noisey
and I am not used to those QRN levels(!!) on SSB. You get absolutely spoiled
working CW with 100hz BW on the low bands....
Thanks to all that called in and a special thanks to those stations that took
the time to answer my requests for real world s-meter signal reports!!
See you in the CQ160

Brian
