On the one hand, I had a blast, but on the other it was a miserable experience
since I have a bad cold and my voice did not hold up well. Losing your voice
in a SSB contest when running QRP makes it really challenging and a real
exercise in masochism (or stupidity?)!
Despite my crackling, "croaky" voice, I was still able to have some success on
the low bands. Conditions and activity seemed pretty decent. I was able to
get a few runs, but mostly this was S&P. I missed quite a few multipliers that
were also S&P and not running -bummer!
This always seems like a friendly activity - I think it's the name thing that
helps to personalize the contacts a bit. Anyway, it is a fun contest. As
always, thanks to everybody for pulling my signal out of the noise and
splatter!
The ND0C 'superstation':
Transceiver: Yaesu FT-897D running 5 watts out
Antennas: Wilson 3 element tribander Yagi at 48 feet and dipole fed with
ladder-line (for 40,80 and 160)
73,
Randy, ND0C
