After several hours trying to figure out how to make N1MM work in the Sprint, I
went back to my old DOS computer and CT. I'll get MM gg yet, and vow to do it
before the day of the contest :>) I know it has some great features and
lots of guys are using it.
CT worked flawlessly. I wrote my log to the A: drive in the old computer which
is not on line.I then set up my newer XP computer again which has a floppy
drive. I had planned to copy the log from the floppy in the newer computer and
submit my log, but found that the floppy drive didnt work. I never used it
before! Now I cant submit my log until I get someone to copy the floppy to a CD
so I can submit from my laptop.
I found 20 and 40 fantastic. Very quiet, great signals. 80 was also quiet, but
I just had a terrible time being heard. I didnt get one answer to a CQ; it was
a real struggle to work anyone! My 4 square didnt seem to have any directivity,
and my 80 dipole no longer has one end at the top of the tower so it is lower
than it used to be between two trees. I'm happy to read that others found 80 as
bad as I did.
Great fun until I went to 80! After 3 hours sleep drove 175 mi back to Cape
Cod. That 5 hour energy stuff really works, and I just drank half a bottle
before the contest started! 73 JACK W1WEF
