Comments:
Go figure - the warmest day by far in Oregon this summer (this is summer? What
happened to Global Warming?). Pretty warm in the 'clubhouse', my contest
operating outbuilding.
The Portland Radio Contester Club (PDXRCC, a 'Sub Club' of the WVDXC)
celebrated the 3rd anniversary of the club, putting the club call KK7PR using
the former call holders name, Ralph as is our tradition. Thanks for all the
patience in copying this longer than normal name for this event!
The station performed with no surprises. Sad that 10m was worthless, 15m was
OK but pretty mediocre. What would we do without 20m? 40m finally played into
our hands in the last 90 minutes, and here on the Left Coast 75 and 160m are
always tough with 100w.
But, we did have fun! Many thanks to Steve N7BEF, Andy KE7AUB (Mr. Butt in the
Chair), Joe KT7E for his support and bringing FOOD! And Steve, KE7IHG who kept
20 meters going long into the night, who wins the 'most improved operator'
award.
My mission is to expose folks to contesting in a competent but non hard core
environment, and contests like the NAQP are perfect venues for that! We
participate in them all! (and, it gives the station a good shake down!)
See you in the Winter tests!
Best 73
Kevin K7ZS, Trustee for KK7PR and the PDXRCC
