Comments:
The site I picked overlooked Lake Chelan at 3500 feet on the ridge line. I used
the spud gun shown in QST last year to get the ropes up about 70 feet in the
Ponderosa pine trees and hoisted a 40/20 two band dipole up. I was able to
operate 4 bands fairly well using an auto tuner. First time I worked field day
alone and it was a grand experience. The weather was sunny and cool but the
winds were very strong Saturday and I was surprised to see the dipole staying
up. The night was very cold so quit until Sunday morning. The bands cooperated
and the action was hot and heavy at times.
