Comments:
I operated from our cabin in a wilderness area of the Sierras at a 5000 foot
elevation on top of a mountain/ridge line in a forest and powered everything
using solar power, batteries and as needed a generator. I spent much of my time
repairing winter damage to rotors, towers, antennas and performing maintennance.
I was able to get just about everything working a few minutes before FD started
and I had a great time. I was planning on running some high power amplifiers
but I never needed them. I decided that this year I wanted to work more CW
during FD so I concentrated on CW and trying to work QRP stations and VHF/UHF
stations whenever possible. Bottom line: I learned a lot (as usual) and I had a
great time. I was also priviliged to work a lot of especially nice courteous
people having fun who were improving their emergency service skills! 73, Ted,
