Could not do this contest full time, which is a pity because I like the format,
apart from the fact that spotting assistance is allowed in a single operator
category..............
Mostly very enjoyable. Excellent activity on CW, but thought SSB activity was
relatively poor this year. Maybe slightly better HF conditions keep ops away
from 40m a little, but my part time situation may be a factor. DX mults were
more in evidence on SSB. NA was poorly represented on SSB but good support on
CW. Thought the 9 and 0 call areas showed good support but I ended up with the
same number of OB as last year despite 8-9 hours less operating.
Worst aspect was the disgraceful behaviour of many on CW, especially I am
afraid by some on the home side (Russian ops) who clearly do not have 'QRL' in
their CW vocabulary and assumed the right to CQ on top of others already using
a frequency (No, there was no chance they did could not hear me, and yes, I do
have working CW filters!!)
